Three Saalbach MTB tours to recommend

Numerous routes line the Glemmtal. The detailed map shows the best tours for mountain bikers, e-bikers, gravel bikers, uphillers and downhillers. Our personal favourite mountain bike tours:

  • Hinterglemmer Talschlussrunde – start from the front door of the Birkenhof, into the centre of Hinterglemm and then follow the bike trail to the head of the valley. Once you reach the Lengau district, the trail continues to the Lindlingalm. From there you can follow the trail to the furthest point of the valley head before returning via the Ossmannalm to the Lindlingalm, Lengau and the centre of Hinterglemm.
Length: just under 19 kilometres // Difficulty: easy// Refreshment stops:Lindlingalm and Ossmannalm
  • Mountain bike tour on the Reiterkogel – with a visit to the medicinal herb trail – as usual, this tour starts right from the Birkenhof. Follow the road in the centre towards the end of the valley until you reach the Lindlingweg, which leads towards the mountain opposite the football pitch. Now it’s uphill to the Rosswald hut before the trail leads past the reservoir and the Reiterkogel middle station to the medicinal herb trail. A visit is highly recommended; you can find over 80 native wild herbs here. From the middle station you can return quite comfortably on the wide asphalt road of the Pfefferweg.
Length: just under 14 kilometres // Difficulty: easy // Refreshment stops: Rosswaldhütte, Reiteralm, Wieseralm, Pfefferalm
  • Spielberghaus in Saalbach – this time we’re heading for Saalbach! After the centre of Hinterglemm, take the cycle path at Hotel Wiesenegg. Follow this until you reach Saalbach. Once you have crossed the centre of Saalbach, follow the Hinterhagweg to the bend to the Spielberghaus. The wide forest road leads directly to the casual hut. If you like, you can take a refreshing dip in the Käpt’n Hook on the way back – admission is free for Birkenhof guests with the JOKER CARD!
Length: just under 15 kilometres // Difficulty: easy // Refreshment stops: Spielberghaus Saalbach
